Click the video to watch the thrilling and dramatic movie of the great escape of these 3 fugitives!
The picture below was taken when the 3 escapees were enjoying their first encounter of freedom
in the outside world. They perched on the insulated 220volt copper line of our neighbor.
Who would think these 3 african lovebirds (in the Phil), after escaping from their cage and be gone away for about 7 hours, would be fooled to come back and gave-in to the entrapment door?in the outside world. They perched on the insulated 220volt copper line of our neighbor.
I "video-documented" this dramatic and thrilling effort in having these expensive and colorful flying gems back home. Feb 20, 2011, after their morning feed, I forgot to double-check the door lock of the cage. Checking after 15 minutes, I just found out that the door was a little bit opened. There I knew that the "couple" african lovebirds plus 1 male had escaped! What remained inside were the 7 budgies who didn't care to experience the freedom in the outside world.
What was disappointing is the fact that those birds had been with me for 4 months already and 2 of them had become a couple in that span of time,of which breeding I have been anticipating of. I have been taking care of them (with seeds, vitamins and fresh leaves ) just for them to propagate and multiply in great numbers.
Because of their "freedom celebration" (screeching and flying in bright colors from 1 tree to another with high-picthed loud noise, children at the roadside can't ignore but to notice and follow them. Theses 3 birds had been out of my sight for more than 5 hours since 9 in the morning. (actually this is the 2nd time that the female of the couple had escaped but she decided to join back with her partner and her fellow inmates in the cage, unexpectedly by 4 pm, after being gone in the outside world for 7 hours, without a bait, she entered through entrapment door)
But by this recent jailbreak, I separately caged 1 budgie and put him on the top of the roof as a bait. Luckily, this caused the couple to come back after 5 hours; the bachelor only came back after 7 hours. The entrapment door had been ready for them since they flew away.
Finally their back home !
Now the breeding must go on...
