Lots of lots and farmland for sale!
There are lots of lots and farmland for sale while searching for a farm lot for my own.
Mostly cheap price per square meter but a buyer is required to purchase the entire hectares of land.

Scheduled again to farmland
On Wednesday after getting the car from the shop, I need to go back again to check for farmland for sale.
As informed, there is an available lot beside the road which cost 80 pesos per square meters in Castillejos.
Update May 20, 2011:
The 631 sq.m. parcel of farmlot is worth 45,000 pesos (1,047 USD) . Since this is a part of the mother titled land, the document available is only a tax declaration property. Jackfruit tree and banana trees are in the frontyard. Currently the nipa hut is being rented by a construction worker of Hanjen- the biggest korean shipbuilding company in the Philippines. I am still coordinating with the agent of this lot for further verification.

Anticipating for another breeding
Another pair of lovebirds is breeding. This time I promise, I will no longer disturb their nests.

I'm selling my house & lot
I have already posted my Ad for my house and lot for sale for 2.3 million pesos. Few had already inquired through email. It seems to me they are just agents or brokers, not the actual buyers.
The proceeds will be used for buying a bigger farm lot and a new and better 700 sq.m. house currently on sale for about 28,000 USD at Castillejos.

budgie's embryo's heart's beating!
After 5 days inside the home-made incubator, I could see streak of blood inside the egg. I thought it was a ring of blood of a dead embryo, but when I happened to video-document the matter, I was surprised to see the beating heart of the budgie's embryo.
The egg candling was done by using a flashlight, diskette film to separate the light and a bulb reflector as the holder of the egg.
This egg was the only one saved out of the 3. The rest were broken by the parent because I touched and changed the nest box beddings.

May 16, 2011 UPDATE: Unfortunately the egg did not fully developed. After 15 days, I did not see any heart beat anymore and I noticed that much fluid were inside the egg, instead of solid particle. I think this failure was due to unregulated temperature and frequent egg handling.

One budgie egg is incubated
Of the 3 eggs laid, 1 were at the bottom of the cage broken, 1 was taken out from the next box and was broken also, 1 left dashed at the corner of the next box which was transferred then to a home-made incubator.
This incubator was made from an old ice box-installed with a digital thermometer, with a CPU fan powered by a 6 DC voltage which is paralleled to the 6 volts spot (halogen) light. A glass of water was also put inside the ice box to provide humidity anyway. I don't have an instrument to measure the humidity as of now. The temperature read only 35.6 degree Celsius, so I put the adaptor of the spotlight inside the box to increase the temperature since it also emits heat. Only then I got the perfect temperature of 36.8 degrees.
Again this is just an experiment.

Another broken budgie egg
Yesterday night I changed and transferred the couple budgies to a separate cage. I had prepared a better recessed bottom nest box. The 2 eggs where transferred without the sight of the birds since I turned the lights, and uses a leaf to touch and transfer the the eggs.
This afternoon, I saw another egg broken and empty at the bottom of the cage. I'm not sure whether it's the 2nd egg or the 4th egg that was broken since I hadn't checked yet the numbers of eggs inside the box. It could be the 2nd or the 3rd egg that which empty shell was taken out by the hen.

2nd and 3rd egg has just come out!
Expectedly after the first broken egg, 2 eggs have just come out. I just hope that all will be hatched since the bottom of the nest box doesn't have enough beddings and the surface is leveled plain.

The first broken egg of my budgie
One morning after six months of rearing several budgies, I just saw one egg lying at the bottom of the cage-it was broken and empty. The cage has a nest box, I wonder why the bird did not lay inside the box.

Upsetting deal
After they felt that I was interested in the the parcel of land, 2 days after they changed the price.
The original agreed price was only 84,800 pesos (or 1,972 USD) for the1,060 square meter of farm lot.
But just this morning the owner changed his mind, as what the agent had told me. It became 100 pesos (2.32 USD) per square meter, instead of 80 pesos (1.8 USD) per sq.m.
Never mind. Obviously, such is not for me to acquire.

Acquiring material blessings-1,060 sq. meters
As I see this personal vision of a farmlot clearer and clearer as time passes by, all I can think of is to thank God. I should thank Him because of the physical strength and sound mind that led me to acquire material blessings. Without this divine providence, I could do nothing.
The west side is a far river side, owned by a chinese haciendero, north farther side has an american house with full-grown mango trees. This is where I should install a water pipe down to the underground for the irrigation system.

A Personal Vision
When I was still in my secondary years, I often noticed the words posted on the walls: Vision and Mission.
I didn't really understand the difference between the two, back then.

The farmlot I'm hoping of having
Yesterday I joined my relatives to tour around certain areas for a farm lot suitable for a poultry business. In compliance with San Miguel Corporation strict policy, we should choose an area farway from residential places, of at least 1 hectare.
Kangkong growing in aquaponic system
Plants needs to adapt to a new environment. This water spinach (kangkong) finally adapted to this aquaponic system after a series of failure. Initally my medium here still is a sandy soil. I am growing this kind of vegetable to feed my feathered friends. Beneath these kangkong plants is another container of 6 fishes specifically orange carp, of which water and wastes are taken down automatically by the overflow as cause by the aquaponic system.
My first 3 kilos of live african night crawlers
Just last April 14th I got my first African Night Crawlers for an experimentation. I've known the supplier through Olx.ph. His farm is in the province of Laguna and we both travel for several hours just to meet-halfway in Manila, particularly in Chowking EDSA Pasay City.

My First Vermi for Composting
On April 14th, 2011 the supplier of African Night Crawlers from a farm in Laguna will hand me down the 3 kilos of this kind of earthworm typically used in composting.
Again this will be another test project.
Photos and video will be post soon.

ALB breeding stage live via Ustream !
For those avian lovers around the world, the breeding stage of these african lovebirds can now be monitored live worldwide via Ustream.
I have installed and initially started the camera today, 8th April 2011.
The camera will later focus on eggs hatching until the time of their first flight.
The live feed can be viewed via this link: (initially available only when my PC is open)
http://www.ustream.cn/channel/live-feed-african-lovebirds-aviary
The video quality is somewhat blurred in the website. I had tried the Adobe offer, but its a trial download which means later I have to purchase for a better quality. But still its not a garantee since there's a lot of factors in maintaining a good signal quality.
Anyway, the only option I see for now is changing to a better camera source and improving my internet speed, to have a better broadcast.

At last, signs of breeding have now started
At last, after 6 months of keeping this green-colored African lovebird (which had escaped last time) and almost a month for the newly bought non-eye ring ALB, there are now signs that theses winged animals will multiply in numbers. But still, I should not count the chicks until the eggs are hatched, because I learned that sometimes unfertilized egg happens and stupid parent bird at times, exists.
This intermarriage so to speak, of the eye-ring ALB and non ER will be monitored for its outcome since this kind of breeding is not advised by most avian breeders. I just hope that everything will be alright, no albino, no "disabled" or no special chick...
The couple was caught in the act by my Sony video-camera.

Dog Bark-activated circuit
Below is the prototype of a sound-activated circuit. It is intended to deter night burglars to entering house premises. It will detect the bark of the owner's pet dog and immediately activates lamp ON for a short duration giving an impression that the occupants have been alerted.
Below is the PCB Artwork
I will post the photo of the actual project as soon as I finish the construction...

Videocam gets power from PSU
Unfortunately I lost its "commercially-unavailable" AC power adaptor at the airport (though it has a rechargeable dual polarity 3.6V battery source, it doesn't last long). So I dug out "hard-to-find" information from the internet on how to make a home-made power supply particularly with both positive and negative 3.6 volts, but to no avail. So, I just tried to use the (-)5 volt of the PSU from my old desktop PC, disregarding the possible damaging effect of using higher voltage, thinking I had no choice.
Luckily, it worked! ...but of course I don't know for how long...
I am modifying the wiring to connect it a small camera using a long LAN cable for home security.

3 ALB flew away and gone for 7 hrs, but were tricked to come back
Click the video to watch the thrilling and dramatic movie of the great escape of these 3 fugitives!
The picture below was taken when the 3 escapees were enjoying their first encounter of freedom
in the outside world. They perched on the insulated 220volt copper line of our neighbor.
Who would think these 3 african lovebirds (in the Phil), after escaping from their cage and be gone away for about 7 hours, would be fooled to come back and gave-in to the entrapment door?in the outside world. They perched on the insulated 220volt copper line of our neighbor.

A flying gem escaped and flew away but had decided to return back!
Around 10 in the morning, 1 partner of my african lovebird couple escaped from the cage and flew away. I unintentionally scared her away by opening the cage' door and installing a swinging perch. Noticeably his partner which was left inside the cage got so disturbed that was very noisy; maybe he's calling her to come back or bring him together with her outside.
